Okay, so while I’m a sucker for a superhero blockbuster, I am not a Marvel Universe geek, so my reviews should, at least, be a bit more impartial than the people at my screening (most of whom were wearing Captain America masks). Me? I simply like a big, loud, expensive movie once in a while…ESPECIALLY when they have as much heart, irreverence and humanity as the Avengers films do, in general, and this movie, in particular. These films are funny (AND smart). Like laugh out loud funny. That matters, because as DC films get darker and darker and eventually suck all the life out of the story (wait until you see the “Batman v Superman” trailer – sheesh), Marvel keeps it (god help me) real. They may BE superheroes, but they FEEL like people you’d wanna hang out with. And in this chapter, the story is both complex and tackles complex subjects – like what is it to be human – and at what price peace. That said, it’s a REALLY fun couple hours (plus). Hell, just watching Mark Ruffalo and Scarlett Johanssen flirt makes it kinda worth it. If you can, try to see it in a large-screen format. Loud and big really adds to the lunacy. Enjoy!
