Directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu

Maybe it’s just that I’ve flittered around in that space between live theater and Hollywood for most of my adulthood…and because I am at the age where imagination meets at the crossroads of wonder and regret, this movie affected me harder than any movie I’ve seen in a very long time. By using a couple stylized tricks – the feeling and time phasing of the movie seemingly (if not actually) tracking in one continuous shot – and the narrative involving a play within a play (and rarely leaving the confines of the theater) – I felt a little claustrophobic, but not in the usual sense – more like there was no escape from the very adult feeling of what it means to hit that crossroads. Two (deserved) Oscars might come out of this flick (Keaton and Norton). The story is crazy and delicious and ridiculous. The film is extraordinary. Please don’t miss it.
